Field House

We bought this house from the estate of Betty Fields.  Boy was she something.  Miss Betty was in her 80’s when we met. (Yes, MISS Betty.  She never married because she told us she “saw how hard her mama worked and she didn’t want that!”) We bought the Queen Bee house from her in 2013.  She would occasionally walk over, lay a dollar on the counter and order a cup of coffee.  She never asked how much it actually cost, she just plopped that dollar down- and we gave it to her.  It seems she had similar “business arrangements” all around town.  Miss Betty.

The house was built in 1908.  When we purchased it in 2018, it received a complete renovation to include central heat and air, new plumbing and electrical and refinishing of the original heart pine floors.  We subdivided the front from the back with a door in the hall.  The front space boasts 4 large rooms (2 with original pocket doors), a Butler’s Pantry and a half bath.  This space is currently under lease.  Queen Bee Coffee Co. occupies the back 2 rooms and full bathroom.
